Dr. Sam Lee
Dr. Lee received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Arizona College of Optometry and is a licensed Optometrist in the state of New Jersey. He completed residency training in Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery and is certified by the NJ State Board of Optometrists in the treatment of eye disease with topical and oral pharmaceuticals. Dr. Lee completed internship rotations at the Lyons VA Hospital in NJ, Indian Health Services in AZ, and Omni Eye Specialists in NJ and NY. He is a longstanding member of the American Optometric Association and New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. Lee is here at Hillsborough Eye Care to serve your vision, eye health, and optical needs. He provides routine comprehensive eye exams, fits a wide variety of standard and specialty contact lenses, and offers emergency eye care services. He is trained to diagnose, treat, and manage a host of ocular conditions and works with specialists in Ophthalmology to co-manage LASIK, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, optic neuropathies, and various retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Lee believes eye care should be tailored to each individual and he engages in a problem-based approach to meet the specific needs of his patients. He sees patients of all ages and has a particular interest in specialty contact lens fits for patients with corneal disease.
Outside of the office, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He has a love for animals and enjoys riding his motorcycle when the weather permits.
Dr. John E. Hilke
Dr. John E. Hilke received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 2003. He was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Science from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He completed his residency in ocular disease and low vision at the hospitals of the Veterans Affairs NJ healthcare system in Lyons and East Orange, NJ.
Dr. John E. Hilke received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 2003. He was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Science from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He completed his residency in ocular disease and low vision at the hospitals of the Veterans Affairs NJ healthcare system in Lyons and East Orange, NJ.
In addition to comprehensive pediatric and adult eye care, Dr. Hilke has a wealth of experience with a variety of contact lens fitting modalities, including daily disposable, multifocal, and rigid gas permeable (“hard”) contact lenses. He is certified to provide therapeutic treatment of eye infections, such as corneal abrasions and conjunctivitis: (pink eye). He also has extensive experience treating glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and ocular surface disease (dry eye). His area of expertise extends to the co-management of surgical procedures including cataracts and LASIK.
In practice at Hillsborough Vision Center since 2004, Dr. Hilke’s philosophy is focused on patient care, meeting the individual visual and ocular health needs of the patient.
